On June 27, 2025, S3Corp. organized an internal training session titled “DevOps Foundation,” aimed at strengthening technical knowledge across teams. The event was divided into two in-depth sessions occurred in 2 days. It offered both theoretical understanding and practical exposure to DevOps processes, tools, and workflows. The session focused on practical steps for application deployment and pipeline automation.
This initiative is part of a broader culture at S3Corp. that encourages continuous learning, team knowledge exchange, and staying updated with current development and operations practices.
Introduction to DevOps and Its Core Principles
The session began with a clear explanation of what DevOps means and how it bridges the gap between development and operations. The trainer emphasized the importance of collaboration, automation, integration, and monitoring throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
DevOps was introduced as a mindset and a set of practices that unify software development (Dev) and IT operations (Ops). The objective is to shorten the development cycle and deliver high-quality software reliably. Participants learned that DevOps promotes faster releases, better resource management, and quicker feedback loops.
Overview of Linux Fundamentals
After introducing DevOps, the training moved on to Linux. Since Linux is a base layer for most cloud environments and container systems, it is essential to understand its structure and operations. The session explained Linux directories, file permissions, shell commands, and basic networking tools.
S3 teams used terminal commands to navigate file systems and perform operations such as package installation, service management, and user access control. Understanding these basics prepared the attendees for deploying applications on Linux-based containers and clusters later in the day.
Introduction to Docker Concepts and Usage
The next focus was Docker, a platform that simplifies the creation and management of containers. The session outlined the purpose of containerization: to package applications with all dependencies, ensuring consistent behavior across environments.

Application Deployment Using Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes
With the foundation set, our teams were guided through a practical exercise. They deployed a sample microservice on a Linux environment using Docker and Kubernetes. The deployment steps included writing a Dockerfile, building the image, pushing it to a registry, and creating the necessary Kubernetes manifests to deploy the service.
Attendees know how Linux provided the environment, Docker packaged the application, and Kubernetes managed its deployment. Logs were inspected to confirm service status, and commands were run to test service scaling and rollout updates.
The exercise solidified the theoretical parts of the morning session, showing how the three technologies connect in real-world usage.
Introduction to CI/CD and Its Benefits
The second session began with the concept of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). The speaker detailed how CI/CD enables automated testing, building, and deployment of code changes.

Attendees compared the flexibility of Jenkins with the cloud integration features of Azure DevOps, understanding how both platforms can serve different team needs.
Implementing CI/CD Pipelines in Practice
In the final hands-on portion, attendees applied their knowledge by setting up simple CI/CD pipelines using both Jenkins and Azure DevOps.
For Jenkins, they configured a freestyle project and then built a basic pipeline using a Jenkinsfile. Steps included pulling code, building a Docker image, running tests, and deploying to a Kubernetes cluster.
In Azure DevOps, they created a project, added code repositories, and defined a pipeline using YAML. The workflow automated the process from code commit to deployment on the previously configured infrastructure.
This task helped participants understand the step-by-step process of CI/CD automation using real tools. Logs and results were monitored to verify successful execution and identify areas for improvement.
