Scholarships for Da Lat University Students
On October 9, 2013, S3 Corporation attended the New School Year Opening Ceremony held at the Mathematics Department of Da Lat University. During this event, S3 Corp. awarded five scholarships to five senior students. These students had consistently shown strong academic performance. They also demonstrated resilience in the face of personal and financial difficulties, proving their commitment to education through hard work and perseverance. The scholarships served as recognition of their efforts and as a tool to support their continued studies.
Recognizing Academic Achievement and Resilience
Each scholarship was awarded to a student who had achieved academic results rated from good to excellent. In addition to academic performance, the selection criteria included the student’s ability to overcome challenges in life. Many of the recipients faced serious financial hardship, yet continued to pursue higher education with determination. By supporting these students, S3 Corp. aimed to remove some of the financial barriers that often hinder academic progress. The scholarships also carried symbolic value, reinforcing the idea that effort and persistence can lead to real opportunities.
The purpose of this initiative extended beyond financial support. By highlighting these students' stories, S3 Corp. wanted to motivate other students to pursue their goals with focus and courage. This act of recognition helped create a culture of encouragement and reward for excellence within the university environment. It aimed to foster interest in Mathematics and Computer Science while supporting the long-term academic and personal growth of the students.
Engagement Between S3 Corp. and Students
The visit by S3 Corp. did not end with the scholarship awards. During the same trip, students had the opportunity to meet and interact with alumni of Da Lat University who now work at S3 Corp. This created a space for learning and exchange of experience. It helped current students understand how graduates from their own university transitioned into the technology workforce. These interactions provided real-world context, showing how skills learned in university can be applied in industry settings.
Mr. Toan, CEO and Co-founder of S3 Corp., delivered a detailed presentation about the company. He introduced S3 Corp.’s core services and business areas. His talk explained the key fields where the company operates, especially in IT outsourcing and software development. This information helped students understand how a company like S3 functions, what roles it offers, and what skills are most relevant. It also provided insight into the broader IT industry in Vietnam. Mr. Toan’s introduction helped link academic studies to professional applications, giving students a practical view of their future career path.
Exposure to Industry Knowledge and Skills
After the presentation by Mr. Toan, the session continued with a talk from Mr. Long, who focused on quality assurance and quality control in software development. He explained the concepts of QA and QC, highlighting their importance in delivering reliable software products. Mr. Long also introduced Agile Scrum methodology, a popular working model in the software development industry. Through clear examples, he showed how this approach helps teams manage projects, deliver tasks efficiently, and respond to change. His session gave students a better understanding of how software testing works, what roles are involved, and what skills are in demand.
This talk allowed students to learn industry-relevant methods directly from a professional. It bridged the gap between what they learn in university and the real practices used in the workplace. Many students were hearing about these concepts in depth for the first time. By learning from someone already working in the field, students gained not only theoretical knowledge but also an understanding of how that knowledge is used in real scenarios.
Guidance on Job Preparation
Ms. Khanh, representing the Human Resources and Recruitment teams at S3 Corp., gave a practical session on job application strategies. She provided detailed advice on how to create an effective CV. She explained what recruiters look for, how to present skills and experiences clearly, and how to avoid common mistakes. Her session also introduced several online platforms where students could find job opportunities, especially those specific to IT and software development. This was particularly useful for final-year students preparing to enter the job market.
Her talk gave students a clearer view of what steps to take when applying for jobs. Many students have strong technical skills but are unsure about how to communicate those skills on paper. Ms. Khanh’s advice helped address that gap. She emphasized the importance of structure, clarity, and relevance in a CV, showing students how to align their resumes with job requirements in the tech sector. Her practical tips helped prepare students for real recruitment processes.
Improving Language Skills for Career Success
Ms. Thao conducted a focused session on English learning. She addressed one of the most common challenges for Vietnamese IT students: limited English proficiency. Her session highlighted the importance of English in the IT industry, especially in areas like documentation, communication with global clients, and understanding technical content. She explained effective learning strategies that students could apply, even with limited time and resources.
This part of the session stressed the direct connection between language skills and career growth. Ms. Thao provided examples of how even basic English improvement can lead to better job prospects. She shared tools and platforms for learning, encouraged regular practice, and advised students to read technical material in English as a daily habit. This session offered students a clear, actionable path to improve one of their most important professional skills.
Alumni Sharing Work Experience
Mr. Bien, a Da Lat University graduate now working at S3 Corp., shared his own career story. He explained how he moved from university studies to a full-time position in the tech industry. His experience helped students understand the common challenges faced during this transition. He spoke about the importance of patience, continuous learning, and communication in the workplace.
His talk gave students a realistic view of life after graduation. He did not present a polished success story but rather an honest account of effort, failure, and eventual achievement. This helped students prepare mentally for their own journey. His story showed that success does not come instantly but is possible with steady effort.
Q&A Session and Student Engagement
At the end of the sessions, a Q&A segment allowed students to raise questions. Many students asked about career opportunities in the IT sector, including job types, required skills, and expected challenges. Others asked about emerging technologies and what areas they should focus on to stay relevant. The questions reflected serious interest and awareness among the students.
The open nature of the Q&A encouraged direct interaction. It allowed students to seek answers specific to their concerns. It also gave S3 Corp. a clearer understanding of what students care about and how best to support them in the future. The engagement level showed that the visit had succeeded in sparking curiosity and motivation.
Conclusion: A Collaborative Success
The visit by S3 Corp. to Da Lat University combined several goals: offering direct support to students through scholarships, sharing practical knowledge about the IT industry, and strengthening the connection between academia and the tech sector. The success of the event relied on careful coordination, clear communication, and shared commitment from both S3Corp. staff and Da Lat University faculty. The event was not a one-way presentation but an interactive platform where students gained valuable information and inspiration.
By supporting students academically, guiding them professionally, and helping them build industry-relevant skills, S3 Corp. continued its mission to contribute to the growth of Vietnam’s IT talent. The company’s involvement showed its interest in long-term development, not just hiring, but building capability in the tech workforce. This initiative reflected S3 Corp.’s role in shaping future software engineers and IT professionals through direct, practical engagement.
