Bee Fighter 2018 – Robot Battle Event

Bee Fighter 2018 was a standout activity during the S3Corp. Company Trip 2018. The event created a competitive and engaging atmosphere among S3Corp. members. With six teams participating, the robot battle event brought innovation, teamwork, and energy to the company trip experience.

Participant Overview

All S3Corp. members had the opportunity to take part. Teams were formed with the following structure:

• Each team had 4 to 8 members.

• One team member was registered as the captain. This role served as the main contact point for coordination with the organizing team.

• Each team was required to include at least one female controller.

Event Timeline and Project Return

The event took place from 7 May 2018 to 7 July 2018. After the event, both the custom-built vehicles and the control applications were collected by S3Corp. for display in the exhibition room.

Each team received a fixed budget. Any expense beyond this budget was not reimbursed. However, all teams were encouraged to develop the best-performing cars within the budget constraints.

Development and Technical Components

Hardware Requirements

Teams were responsible for designing and building remote-controlled cars. The specifications included:

• Usage of Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or other microcontroller units (MCUs).

• Balloons were attached to the cars on the event day by the organizing team. Balloons were positioned at the sides and back of each vehicle.

• Each car had to include one to three needles in the front. These served as the main attacking mechanism for puncturing opponent balloons.

• Additional protective or offensive mechanisms could be added based on team strategy.

• Detailed hardware guidelines were provided directly to the teams.

Software and Control Mechanism

Each team developed a mobile application (Android or iOS) to control their vehicle. The control method had a strict requirement:

• The vehicle could only be operated using sound input.

• Accepted sound inputs included voice, music, general sound, or even screaming.

Wireless communication methods, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or radio, were permitted to connect the app with the vehicle.

Game Rules Summary

The matches were conducted in a closed arena. Each match had a maximum duration of 5 minutes and involved 3 to 4 teams per match.

Key rules included:

• Each team used sound input to control their vehicle remotely.

• Cars attacked opponents by using needles to puncture their balloons.

• When a car lost all of its balloons, it was removed from the match.

• The earlier a car was removed, the fewer match points it received.

• If more than one car remained after time expired, the score was calculated based on the number of balloons each surviving car still had.

Event Highlights

The atmosphere during Bee Fighter 2018 was energetic and intense. Despite heavy rain and the need to relocate to another venue, the excitement of the event remained strong. All teams displayed strong teamwork and technical creativity.

The competition successfully showed how robots can combine fun with challenge, highlighting both technical strength and interactive design.
